The largest pieces of the Godslaying’s aftermath became one with the lands they touched, transforming them in unpredictable ways. Most worlds have only heard of them, but a few have been unfortunate enough to play host to these dangerous places.
The best-known echoland in this world is a few leagues’ travel east of Lake Crossing, at the end of the trade road. The great forest of the dreamfolk stops abruptly at the border. A damp mist covers the westernmost edge of the echoland, regardless of the weather outside. Birds rarely fly over; those that do turn back quickly or never again. Rumors are that before the Godslaying the forest continued for several leagues and that there was a portal at its eastern border, but that it was destroyed along with the forest.
Dangerous creatures are to be found in the Echoland, according to the few who have traveled there. The dreamfolk have been known to hunt and destroy those that venture out of the mist. Stranger creatures still are believed to inhabit its deepest reaches. There is also talk that the spirits of those who died when the Echoland was created still walk its wastes, tormented by what has happened to them and unable to find peace.
